The 10+1 principles of Burning Man.
BBB is more than just a party; it is a temporary community we build together based on a shared philosophy of life. We are guided by the 10 original Burning Man Principles, to which we proudly add a vital 11th principle: Consent.
These are not strict rules, but rather an ethical map to create a space of freedom, respect, and magic. By participating in the Barcelona Burning Bash, you become a co-creator of this experience. You are the event.
1. Radical Inclusion
All are welcome to join! We welcome everyone for their unique contribution. Include others as you want to be included, with respect, consideration and tolerance.
2. Gifting
Give a gift, take a gift. From a cold beer to helping with a tent, our gifts are from the heart. P.S. A gift is only a gift if it’s wanted.
3. Decommodification
Forget about money. By removing commerce, we create co-operation. We live without money to remind us of what’s really important.
4. Self-Reliance
You are responsible for you. Give yourself what you need—mentally and physically—and ask others for help when you need it.
5. Compassionate Self-Expression
Give the best of yourself. Be the person you are. Be the person you want to be. You are a gift to the community, and so is everyone else.
6. Co-operation
We co-create magic. We value creative cooperation and collaboration to build our shared reality.
7. Communal Responsibility
Look after each other. We assume responsibility for the general welfare. We are a family of individuals united in a common purpose.
8. Leave No Trace
From dust to dust. We clean up after ourselves; we leave nothing behind; we leave no trace that we were there. Read more about LNT here
9. Participation
Get involved! The more you do, the more you get back. When you join others in play and in work, you are part of BBB.
10. Immediacy
Make now count. All this will soon be gone, so enjoy now. Experience, participate, Be!Be!Be!
11. Consent
Respect boundaries, always ask first. Honor others’ physical, emotional, and personal boundaries. Consent is active, informed, and ongoing. Read more here.
